Hello again.Â
It’s been a while between posts and during this hiatus this ‘newsletter’ has found a new name. ‘Let’s get lost’ - a tribute to the fun of getting lost in new places, in our passions and in enjoying delicious food. I take a lot of enjoyment in hearing other people share their experiences and what they find most fulfilling. Previously, I shared recommendations through different mediums - videos, podcasts and written pieces that I thought were interesting. I hope to continue doing this but with a focus on elaborating on the impact these ‘things’ have on me and on others.
Chet Baker’s beautiful tune ‘Let’s Get Lost’ - and this space’s namesake - fittingly, is this week’s feature. I was re-introduced to this song in a recent ‘Ted Lasso’ episode. Like many musicians of the era (jazz musicians in particular), Chet lived a creatively productive yet tragic life. I could listen to his iconic, warm trumpet sound and velvety, effortless vocals for hours. Through this combination, he makes jazz incredibly listenable and has recorded countless classic, recognisable songs over the years.
Some more worthwhile listening ~
I’m On Fire - Salt Tree cover of the Bruce Springsteen classic
Southern Sun - Boy and Bear
Valentine - Laufey
Give these a watch ~
Beau Miles - what can’t this guy do? Beau has found a unique voice and I believe he is one of the most honest, interesting storytellers on the internet.
I wouldn’t call myself a flying enthusiast but Stefan’s videos are the closest thing to making me want to enrol in flight training. This latest trip is incredible and has put an arctic adventure firmly on my must-travel list.
Make this for dinner ~
Rosetta’s Zucchini Risotto. I used risoni instead of risotto and cooked for less time. Super simple and delicious. Skip steps and modify as desired.
This week’s grails ~
A juicy Universal Geneve Compax with a stunning brushed dial from Oliver and Clarke.
I might be slow to this one as it looks like they dropped a month ago now but these Ronnie Fieg designed Adidas Samba collaboration with Clarks and Kith make me think Sambas are back.
That’s a wrap for this week. It’s been fun putting this together. Feel free to shoot through any suggestions you have. See you next week x
